Jake Stanczak, the man behind the monster creation Kill The Noise, lists Ridley Scott, Nine Inch Nails, and Aphex Twin as his inspirations on his Soundcloud page. If you’re familiar with any of these acts you can guess at the kind of music he creates. It is dark and sinister; occult and bizarre. For these reasons he has become a crowd favorite in a scene populated with the castaway, despondent youth of our times. He produced and performed under the name Ewun until 2008.
His pull can be summed up in one figure, his Soundcloud followers. He has 3.73M to date, which is nearly equivalent to that of the basslord Datsik. His unique musical expressions explore genre bending territories regularly, melding and blending styles together into his own magical synthesis. As a result, he’s collaborated with a host of names from the upper echelons of the genre; Skrillex, Feed Me, 12th Planet, Dillon Francis, Loudpvck, Boombox Cartel, Snails, Herobust, Flux Pavilion, Virtual Riot, Ephwurd. He’s even remixed Korn and AWOLNATION, and indeed collaborated with AWOLNATION, though I hate their stupid song (SAIL!). In 2012 he performed with Korn on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
He’s been signed to OWSLA, Skrillex’s own label, since 2011. His latest project was his Alt Classic LP. You can hear more of Kill The Noise tomorrow night during my vlog, which will be available via my YouTube channel.
